Ohio fishing license cost
The state of Ohio requires a fishing license for people age 16 and older.
Annual fishing licenses are valid for 365 days from purchase date. Annual and multiyear fishing licenses are valid from purchase date until the expiration date printed on the license.

ABOUT LICENSES & PERMITS
Multiyear Fishing Licenses (Ohio Residents Only)
A multiyear license allows an Ohio resident the opportunity to lock-in rates and avoid transaction fees for the length of the license. You can purchase these licenses for 3 years, 5 years, or 10 years. You have to purchase permits and stamps annually.
Multiyear license customers may pay additional fee for hard plastic license (Ohio Conservation Card) if desired.
Lifetime Fishing Licenses (Ohio Residents Only)
A lifetime license creates an Ohio tradition that lasts a lifetime! A lifetime license, purchased for yourself or as a gift, provides a lifetime of outdoors enjoyment, regardless of where they live in the future. The cost of the license offers considerable savings and convenience to the holder and supports conservation programs. Revenue generated by lifetime licenses provide long-term financial support for Ohio’s fish and wildlife.
All Lifetime license holders will be mailed a plastic card (Ohio Conservation Card) to serve as their license.

You can purchase your Ohio fishing license in person at any of the following locations: sporting goods stores, bait shops (here at Meinke marina) and gas stations.
##What is the difference between a resident and non-resident fishing licenses in OHIO?
While the one day license is the same for both residents and non-residents, the other license types vary greatly in price based on residency.

##Why should you get a OHIO Fishing License if you live outside of OHIO but fish there frequently?
As a non-resident, you can save more money by purchasing an Ohio fishing license if you fish in Ohio multiple occasions per year.
Also, it’s required to have an Ohio fishing license if you have fishing tackle in your vehicle that contains live bait, or any type of fishing gear that has hooks attached.
The following individuals may be eligible for free Ohio fishing licenses:
- Ohio residents born on or before December 31, 1937 can get a free license at any license outlet or online
- The following Ohio residents are also eligible for a free license, but must submit a formal application (Form DNR 9032), which is available by calling 1-800-WILDLIFE (1-800-945-3543)
- Persons who are mobility impaired and required the help of another person to cast and retrieve
- Holders of veteran license plates displaying the international wheelchair symbol
- Certain permanently disabled veterans
- Residents of state and county institutions
- Former prisoners of war
