What inspired you to become a captain?

I grew up on lake Erie, fishing has always been a part of me & I like passing on my knowledge to new people..

What type of vessel do you operate?

30′ blue sportcraft

What are your areas of expertise (e.g., fishing charters, sightseeing tours, boat rentals, deep-sea excursions)?

Walleye, perch, & smallmouth fishing Charters…& a few lighthouse tours

What licenses and certifications do you hold?

Merchant mariners credentials (100 ton)
Lake Erie ohio guide license both boat & ice fishing
Inspected vessel certification
& Michigan, Ohio & New York state fishing licenses

What do you love most about being a captain?

Teaching kids to get outdoors & away from the internet & meeting all the new people

What is your favorite spot to take passengers and why?

Wherever the fish are biting…

What’s a memorable experience you’ve had on the water?

I had a young lady on one trip where dad & brother had gotten seasick & struggled to fish…she had caught a bunch of walleye casting by herself after being taught..her biggest being a 25″er that you would have thought by her expressions was a 40″….when we had returned to dock she ran & told everyone in the marina about her trip & had to show off her first ever biggest walleye she’d ever caught….
That trip will forever be with me…lol

Do you have a favorite type of fish to catch (if applicable)?

I’m a perch & walleye guy because that’s what I like to eat….
But we catch white bass, white perch, sheep head, catfish, every now & then a musky, steelhead or largemouth bass

What advice would you give to someone new to boating or fishing?

Dramamine…lol
Lake Erie is beautiful but she can get nasty in a hurry

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

I’ve heard I’m very creative (think outside the box) & a good teacher to new people

What’s your go-to meal after a long day on the water?

Bacon double cheeseburger & a bud light!
